Project Overview

The **nGASa Calibration GUI** is a high-performance SimRacing utility application designed to interface with 3DRap's professional **nGASa Pedals**. Developed as a cross-platform desktop application using Electron, React, and TypeScript, the dashboard manages complex device configurations, load cell mappings, and diagnostics.

By bypassing standard high-overhead wrappers, the application establishes a direct virtual COM bridge, communicating with the pedals' custom firmware using a high-frequency **USB over Serial Port** connection.

Key Capabilities & Engineering

  • USB Serial Port Communication: Establishes serial channels directly with the custom microcontroller firmware. Reads Raw data blocks and streams inputs without lagging.
  • Baked 3D Image Sequences: For performance and absolute compatibility reasons on systems running active simulators (where GPU resources are locked to the game), the GUI uses pre-rendered, baked 3D image sequences of the pedals instead of runtime WebGL scenes. This eliminates CPU/GPU overhead.
  • Real-Time Input Updating: Dynamically updates pedal compression models, calibration charts, and progress feeds instantly as physical inputs occur.
  • Thousands of Configurations: Provides thousands of potential parameter configurations (individual deadzones, custom non-linear response curves, output scaling filters, and presets).
  • Cloud Web Updates & Popups: Integrates automatic web checking layers. When a new firmware version is released, the driver is notified via an update popup to install the latest files.
  • Microcontroller Flashing & Autonomous Operation: Once calibration parameters are defined, users can flash and store data directly in the microcontroller EEPROM and close the GUI application. The pedals operate completely autonomously, saving computer resources during racing sessions.
