Project Overview
M.A.C srl (macsolution.it) is a prominent Italian System Integrator and IT Service Provider that has been designing, implementing, and managing advanced IT services and cloud solutions for public and private organizations for over twenty years. As part of their customer utility suite, I engineered a custom web and mobile speedtest application.
Realized as a cross-platform mobile application using Apache Cordova, this deployment was pioneered long before contemporary frameworks like React Native or Expo became the industry norm. Built in close collaboration with their internal graphic designers to ensure a smooth user interface, the tool measures connection metrics and logs telemetry back to their core analytics servers.
In addition to the dedicated mobile application packages, the speedtest was developed to be fully operational within standard web browsers, allowing users to run connection diagnostics directly from their desktop PCs without any installation.
Core Technical Accomplishments
- Pioneering Cross-Platform Mobile: Implemented the application using Apache Cordova to target both Android and iOS markets from a single HTML5/JavaScript codebase, optimizing development cycles.
- Speedtest Engine & Performance Hooks: Coded custom latency and packet download/upload scripts. The engine executes automated checks to measure throughput speed without causing visual lag.
- Telemetry & Log Capture: Designed secure data collection channels to transmit connection diagnostic logs to M.A.C srl's backend databases, providing insights on regional coverage performance.
- Designer-Led UI Collaboration: Interfaced with M.A.C srl's internal graphic designers to construct custom-skinned widgets, custom dials, and responsive measurement gauges.
