Publishing to the App Store
Publishing to the App Store
Publishing an app to the Apple App Store is the final step in bringing your iOS application to users. It is a process that requires careful preparation, from ensuring your app meets Apple's guidelines to creating compelling marketing materials. While the process can seem daunting at first, it becomes straightforward once you understand the steps involved.
Before you submit, you need to prepare several things. Your app must have an icon, screenshots for different device sizes, a description, keywords, and a privacy policy URL. You also need to set up your app in App Store Connect, which is Apple's portal for managing your apps. Here you configure pricing, availability, and in-app purchases.
The submission process starts with building your app for release. You create an archive in Xcode, then upload it to App Store Connect using the Organizer or Transporter app. Once uploaded, you select the build in App Store Connect and submit it for review. Apple's review team checks your app for compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
The review process typically takes one to two days, but it can vary. If your app is rejected, Apple provides a reason and often suggestions for how to fix the issue. You can appeal the rejection or resubmit after making changes. Once approved, your app goes live on the App Store. You can choose to release it immediately or schedule a release date.
